The Broward County Chapter of the Risk Management Society (RIMS) hosts an annual charity auction to benefit the SOS Children’s Village. The SOS Children’s Village provides a home, family, and support services to abused, abandoned, or severely neglected foster children without an imminent plan for adoption or reunification with their birth family. The organization gives stable family life and a place to call home to children that, often, have never had the opportunity to experience them.
While the auction was originally scheduled to take place in September, the onset of Hurricane Irma on South Florida prevented it from occurring. Undeterred by the inclement weather, the RIMS rescheduled the auction for Thursday, October 19th, 2017. All past auctions have had incredible gifts donated and this year is sure to surmount the last with items like destination vacation packages with round-trip airline tickets to tickets to sports, theater, and concert events.
JDi Data takes great pride in participating in the SOS Children’s Society charity auction. As members of the Broward County Chapter of the Risk Management Society, JDi Data’s very own Michael DelFierro not only attends the auction but also as one of the potential gifts to be gained:
“Broward County Chapter of RIMS Annual Charity Auction to benefit the SOS Children’s Village holds a special place with me. My first time attending, I heard a young girl speak about her experience while living at the Village and how it helped her succeed, eventually being able to earn her college diploma. Her story brought tears to my eyes. Since then, I promised myself I would do something to help. When given the opportunity, I thought what a better way to support this wonderful organization than donating something unique like group tennis lessons. A lifetime of playing and teaching tennis professionally gave me the opportunity to now give back to my community.” – Michael DelFierro
